About You

Everybody matters. We matter. You matter.

Together we can make a difference because individually we can choose to do something differently.

Every four years over a billion people choose to come together across the globe to share in the Olympic Games. How many billions will choose to make the necessary changes to guarantee their own comfort and survival?

People often believe they are too insignificant to make a difference - that they don't matter.  The truth is every decision we each make, every day, makes a difference, every day. Each of us has put a tiny amount of extra carbon dioxide up into the air by the choices we make. If it was just you, it wouldn't matter. But together we’ve changed the climate of the planet. Multiply your contribution by the rest of the six billion of us, and you become significant.

While some people may be more powerful than others, each one of us has some effect over our own life. We also affect the lives of those around us: by treading on their foot or by choosing not to; by choosing to smile or swear at someone; by choosing the size of car we drive or where we buy our electricity.

If each of us didn’t count, there wouldn't be a problem. Because we do, there can be a solution.
 

About Us

We, positiveglobalwarming.com, believe that climate change is real, here and now. We also believe that humans, the great adaptors, have the power both to control emissions and to thrive in the new world that is emerging.

We can make the changes necessary to allow our way of life to survive, without sacrificing our quality of life. This website explores how you and others can make the difference.

More importantly, at PGW we believe very strongly that global warming is in fact exciting. This is because it is the catalyst that will bring about great change and great improvements in the quality of our lives, our technologies and our societies. As Larry Niven once said: “Think of it as evolution in action.”

Positive attitudes create positive actions. Positive actions breed positive outcomes. Positive outcomes lead to more positive attitudes and outcomes.  This website is here to help develop those positive attitudes and to support all of us in building a better future for ourselves and everyone else. 

About the Site

This site depends very much on your participation, so please do browse through it to find the areas that fill your needs. Enjoy reading the Positive News stories – we will try and post one or two new ones each week. These are stories of new developments, technologies, and progress towards handling climate change. It’s far from all being bad news out there.

Have a good browse through the Big Ideas File and take inspiration from other people’s creative ideas. Some of them may seem crazy, but big and small, each of them will inspire someone somewhere. Please send us your suggestions on how to improve an idea, and send us your ideas too.
