Hundreds Naked in Swiss Photo Incident |

18th August 2007 - follow-up to an earlier story - Today, several hundred people posed naked on the Aletsch glacier in Switzerland to raise awareness of the hazards of climate change.
This collaboration between Greenpeace Switzerland and internationally-renowned photographer Spencer Tunick was intended to draw attention by comparing the vulnerability of the melting glaciers with the vulnerability of the naked human body.
Over the last 150 years, the Alpine glaciers have lost nearly one third of their surface areas and half of their mass. Over the period 2005-2006, the Aletsch glacier has retreated by around 115 metres. |
