A report from Avon Tyres published in May 2005 declares that around 90% of cars on British roads have at least one tyre with pressure incorrect by at least 10%. This results in around a 15% shorter lifespan for the tyre, and around a 2.5% reduction in fuel efficiency – as well as a possible contributing factor towards 7% of British road accidents. By checking tyre pressures regularly, for instance whenever filling the car with petrol, drivers can reduce damage to the environment, be safer and keep more money in their pockets. |
